PRESIDENT AND CEO
Reports Directly to the Board of Directors.

Position Level: Exempt grade 4

Scope of the position: The President and Chief Executive Officer is to achieve the objectives of the corporation as set forth in the Corporate Business Plan. The Corporate Business Plan outlines the strategies, tactics, and goals of the corporation for the present year and identifies where the company is to be five years and ten years hence. The President is accountable to the stockholders to ensure that they are given an acceptable rate of return on their investment through the business operations of the corporation. He is measured solely on his ability to meet the objectives and goals set forth in the Corporate Business Plan.

The President carries out this mission by working with the Board of Directors and guides the day-to-day affairs of the business through the offices of the General Sales Manager, the Chief Financial Officer, and the Production Managers. These five individuals make up the senior staff of the corporation and form the Management Committee.

It is the foremost duty of the President to appoint individuals to the positions in the Management Committee who are not only able to fulfill their assignments with the highest degree of competency but who can also build strong unified business teams. Effective team building by competent leaders is a key ingredient to a successful business. These teams will carry out the business of the corporation with the highest degrees of honesty, integrity, quality, and service.

Specific Duties, Requirements, and Responsibilities

  1. Must have a detailed knowledge about all products and services the corporation offers to its customers.
  2. Has bottom line direct responsibility for the achievement of corporate objectives.
  3. Has the ability to control and guide the work of the Management Committee, motivate them, and keep them enthusiastically focused on their objectives.
  4. Has demonstrated and continues to show loyalty to the company.
  5. Evaluates the performance of the Management Committee. Uses performance reviews to give feedback, motivate, and evaluate individuals’ work.
  6. Appoints individuals to positions in the Management Committee.
  7. Has strong written communications skills.
  8. Is a good telephone conversationalist.
  9. Keeps records of all corporate objectives and is able to evaluate performance from these records. Each person in the Management Committee will track, graphically post, and be required to report on a timely basis to the President.
  10. Is able to negotiate with prospective Management Committee appointees on compensation. Is able to clearly communicate group and individual expectations.
  11. Makes himself available to sales personnel for discussions with prospective customers.
  12. Teaches Management Committee the following customer service techniques:
    1. Stay close to each project in process.
    2. Visit job sites often. Be a visible representative of the corporation.
    3. Communicate with customers during installations.
    4. Always give customers the feeling that he is personally interested. In other words, reassures customers with his personal involvement.
    5. Teaches how to provide great customer service.
    6. Knows how to report to the Board of Directors.

Meeting Responsibilities

  • Schedule a monthly One on One’s with Management Committee Members.
  • Hold regular Management Committee Meetings.
  • Reports results of business operations to the Board of Directors.

Expected Measurement and Monitoring of Performance

  1. Quarterly Performance Reviews are to be scheduled with the Management Committee.
  2. An annual Business Performance Review is to be submitted to the Board of Directors at the annual Board of Directors Meeting.
  3. Statistical performance indicators are to be graphed and posted.
  4. Use the Financial Statements and Job Profitability Reports to monitor performance.
