PRODUCTION MANAGER
Reports Directly to the president.
Position Level: Exempt grade 2
Scope of the position: Production Managers are totally responsible for the cost side of Gross Profits and share responsibility for revenue production with Sales that meet or exceed those required in the Yearly Business Plan. They directly oversee the total performance for their divisional production teams. All activity will be accomplished within the budget guidelines of their Division.
Production Managers develop trained and motivated teams that produce highest quality work. Through use of Corporate Compensation Plans, Performance Reviews, and consistent feedback, the Production Manager will ensure that team members are developed so they can successfully accomplish their goals.
The Production Manager will work closely with the customers to ensure their satisfaction. The Production Manager is accountable to ensure that all production activities are carried out in accordance with the stated objectives and direction of Mathusek Incorporated.
Specific Duties, Requirements, and Responsibilities
- Must have a detailed knowledge about all products and services the Division offers.
- Is to ensure that sales is using accurate labor and production standards in its bidding and should review on a regular basis the labor standards used in the bid process.
- Must have an in-depth understanding of product and service costs.
- Has direct control over the production teams. Understands and is an expert in work scheduling.
- Has the ability to control production personnel, motivate them, and keep them enthused about their products, services, and career.
- Has demonstrated and continues to show loyalty to the company.
- Evaluates all production staff and team performance. Uses performance reviews to give feedback, motivate, and evaluate individuals work.
- Recruits quality production personnel.
- Has strong people skills.
- Has the ability to work through problems with customers and satisfy their needs.
- Keeps records off all production activity and is able to evaluate performance from these records. Each production manager will track, graphically post, and report the following to the president:
- Gross Profits results
- Historical production volume statistics
- Volume performance of production supervisors
- Upcoming work; current and future
- Graphs results of specific areas of concern or opportunity
- Understands the actual installation and finishing processes so that errors will not be made in the field. However, when errors are made, the production manager will be expected to fix the problem with the least disruption to the customer as possible.
- Is able to negotiate with prospective production employees on compensation. Is able to clearly communicate group and individual production expectations.
- Develops compensation programs in conjunction with the other production managers, the CFO, and President.
- Teaches production personnel techniques of dealing with customer concerns and problems.
- Knows how to report to the president.
- Is personally presentable at all times in the presence of prospects or customers.
Meeting Responsibilities
- Schedule monthly One on Ones with Production personnel.
- Hold weekly Production Staff meeting.
- Attend scheduled Management Committee Meetings.
- Present results at scheduled Production Operations Reviews.
Expected Measurement and Monitoring of Performance
- Quarterly Operations Reviews are to be scheduled with the Management Committee.
- An annual Performance Review is to be submitted to the President prior to the third week of February.
- Statistical performance indicators are to be graphed and posted.
- Use the Income Statement and Job Profitability Reports as your guide to monitor performance.
