PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
Reports Directly to the Production Manager.

Position Level: Non Exempt grade 3

Scope of the position: Production Supervisors are responsible to meet volume and quality production goals of the various projects assigned to them by the Production Manager. They directly oversee the performance of field production teams. They complete their work within the budget guidelines of their Division.

The Production Supervisor is a skilled mechanic. He/she is considered, by his team members, to be the one who can show how to complete a task or answer any field production questions. Production Supervisors develop, train, and motivate production teams to produce high quality, profitable jobs. By working closely with the Production Manger, the Production Supervisor will ensure that team members are developed so they can successfully accomplish their goals.

The Production Supervisor interacts with the customers to ensure their satisfaction. The Production Supervisor has a close relationship with the customer and, as a result, must ensure that his relationship is based upon integrity and trust. Customer service and production quality are top priorities for the Production Supervisor. He also ensures that all production activities are carried out in accordance with the stated objectives and direction of Mathusek Incorporated.

Specific Duties, Requirements, and Responsibilities

  1. Has mastered all the skills, duties, and responsibilities that will be assigned to be completed by his team.
  2. Must have a detailed knowledge about all products and services the Division offers.
  3. Must have an in-depth understanding of product and service costs.
  4. Has direct in-field control over his production team.
  5. Understands how and is able to schedule work.
  6. Uses Microsoft Project to schedule work.
  7. Uses Quattro spreadsheet to quantify volume statistics.
  8. Has the ability to control production personnel, motivate them, and keep them enthused about their products, services, and career.
  9. Has demonstrated and continues to show loyalty to the company.
  10. Helps recruit quality production personnel.
  11. Has strong people skills.
  12. Has the ability to work through problems with customers and satisfy their needs.
  13. Keeps records of all his team’s production activity and is able to evaluate performance from these records. Each Production Supervisor will track, graphically post, and report the following to the Production Manager:
    1. Historical production volume statistics
    2. Volume performance of production team
    3. Upcoming work; current and future
    4. Graphs results of specific areas of concern or opportunity
  14. Understands the actual installation and finishing processes so that errors will not be made in the field. However, when errors are made, the production supervisor will be expected to make the in-field correction with the least disruption to the customer as possible.
  15. Teaches production team techniques of dealing with customer concerns and problems.
  16. Knows how to report to the Production Manager.
  17. Is personally presentable at all times in the presence of prospects or customers.

Meeting Responsibilities

  • Schedule monthly One on One’s with Production personnel.
  • Hold weekly Production Team meeting.

Expected Measurement and Monitoring of Performance

  1. An annual Performance Review is to be submitted to the Production Manager prior to the first week of February.
  2. Statistical performance indicators are to be graphed and posted.
  3. Use Job Profitability Reports as the guide to monitor performance.
